752-도리, 처음으로 엎어지다. 아리의 Roadwork

 

 

*2011년 5월 16일(월)-도리, 처음으로 엎어지다.       어제부터 비가 내리기 시작한 날씨가 오늘도 이어서 비가 내리다 흐리다를 반복한다.   오늘 아침, 도리가 처음으로 혼자 힘으로 엎어졌다고 엄마가 기뻐한다. 혼자 침대에서 자던 도리가 아침에 일어나서 꼬무락거리다가 엎어져서 놀고 있더라고 한다. “도리야~”하고 부르면 요즘은 확실하게 돌아보며 방긋거리는 것만으로도 좋아했는데. 도리는 요즘 엄마가 이유식을 시작했다. 바나나도 으깨어 아주 조금씩 먹이고, 곡물도 먹이기 시작했다. 도리의 행동발달이 아리에 비해선 약간 늦은 감이 있다. 물론 일반적인 아기 성장으로는 정상적이긴 하지만.   아리는 뒤짚고 기고··· 하는 행동발달이 빨랐었다. 아리가 6 개월 때 한국에 갔었는데, 그때가 여름이었다. 아리를 뉘어놓으면 스스로 엎쳐서 기는데 그 당시엔 앞으로는 못 기고 뒤로 기었다. 잠시 한눈팔다 보면 뒤로 몸을 밀고 기어서 소파 밑으로 들어가서 마치 소파 밑에서 기어 나오는 것처럼 보여 웃겨주었다. 도리는 몸동작이 아리에 비해서 더딘 반면, 소리 지르기나, 웃고, 손발을 휘젖고, 찡그리고··· 그런 작은 동작들은 더 강렬하다.                         <아리가 요즘 읽은 책>   Roadwork                                                                                  -Sally Sutton ` illustrated by Brian Lovelock           Plan the road. Pack the ground. Pack the ground. Roll one way, then back. Make the roadbed good and hard. Crack! Seal the road. Seal the road. Make it hot and squishy. Spread the sticky tar and stones. Sploshy! Splashy! Splishy! Roll the tar. Roll the tar. Make it firm and flat. Squash it down and press it out. Squelch! Spluck! Splat! Stop the work. Stop the work. Time to break for lunch. Sandwiches and drinks and fruit. Gulp! Slurp! Crunch! Mark the road. Make the road. Give the paint a squirt. Paint the lines in nice and straight. Whizz! Splop! Splurt! Raise the signs. Raise the signs. Drag and hoist and ram. Force thim down into their holes. Thwack! Whop! Wham! Light the road. Light the road. No one wants a crash. Test the lights and watch them shine. Flick! Flack! Flash! Plant the trees. Plant the trees. Dig and stamp and lug. Water them to help htem grow. Drip! Drop! Glug! Tidy up. Tidy up. Lift and load and sweep. Drive away those big machines. Swish! Chug! Beep! Shout hooray! The work is done. Ready now? Let`s zoom. Drive along your brand-new road. Toot! Honk! Vrooom!
